Fiat brand Abarth has confirmed the Fiat 500-based Abarth 695 Maserati Edition will be launched in Europe late this year.
The Maserati Edition model comes three years after the sell-out Tributo Ferrari Abarth 695.
Only 499 of the luxuriously equipped Maserati Edition models will be produced and amongst the sumptuous standard inclusions is a full set of Tramantano leather luggage.
The Maserati styling influence on the Abarth 695 is clear – starting with the Maserati-inspired 17-inch Neptune design alloy wheels. Each Abarth 695 Maserati Edition is painted in a three-coat Maserati ‘Pontevecchio Bordeaux’ colour.
Power comessfrom Fiat’s 132kW 1.4-litre Turbo T-Jet engine driving through an electronically-operated Abarth ‘Competizione’ transmission with steering wheel controls. A special dual-mode back-pressure exhaust system delivers a Maserati-style exhaust note above 3000rpm.
Underneath are Brembo disc brakes and high performance Koni shock absorbers.
Inside in true Masertai style is lots of beige leather, aluminium and carbon fibre plus instrumentation specially developed by Jaeger.
For the Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari model, Australian customers were asked to stump-up more than $70,000. While there has been no word from Fiat Australia on local plans for the 695 Maserati Edition, the British price is £32,000 (around $AU50,000).
