Audi’s all-new A5 is getting a very lavish coming-out party in company home ground Ingolstadt.
June 2nd is the day that Audi is slated to unveil their all-new A5 coupe, and have chosen their own headquarters in Ingolstadt, Germany to host the event. The unveil itself will be during an extravagant music and light show held over six nights.
Details are scarce at the moment apart from the odd camouflaged spy shot here or there, but judging from how good an aesthetic baseline the A4 sedan is, things are looking bright for the A5’s exterior.
The wider stance of the two-door car should be just like the previous A5s, with other subtle tweaks to differentiate it from its sedan cousin.
There’s no official word yet as to whether Audi will also be taking the opportunity to debut the sportier S5 variant alongside, but the feeling on ground is that there’s a strong possibility.
Should history repeat, the base new A5 should carry over the B9 A4’s 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder 185kW mill mated to a 7-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch automatic along with TDI diesels, quattro all-wheel drive, a manual transmission option and Cabriolet and Sportback body styles as well.
Should the S5 also make its official entrance, it should sport the current S4’s 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 engine under its hood.
Front wheel drive should come as standard on the A5 with more powerful models sporting all-wheel traction. This new A5 will eventually evolve into the next RS 5, a high-performance coupe that should serve as a strong response to the Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe and BMW M4, likely powered by an even more potent version of the 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 that’s rumoured to spawn a new Audi R8 variant.
