Star billing for the new range of Mercedes-Benz’ GL-Class full-size SUVs goes to the GL 63 AMG.
Powered by the 5.5-litre AMG Bi-turbo V8, delivering a rip-snorting 410kW/760Nm, the GL 63 AMG must be the world’s most powerful and fastest seven-seat SUV - easily covering zero to 100km/h in just 4.9 seconds.
Priced at $214,900, the GL 63 AMG is the range topper of the updated GL lineup – ‘Benz refers to as the “S-Class of SUVs”. However at the other end of the range, the latest GL 350 BlueTEC ($129,900), like the rest of the GL lineup, magnificently equipped, provides seven seat luxury SUV buyers with real value-for-money.
The Mercedes-Benz GL 360 BlueTEC emplys the V6 diesel engine which boasts improved performance and reduced fuel consumption (now 7.7l/100kms combined cycle).
Of course the GL bristles with luxury and technology as only Mercedes-Benz can – 4MATIC all-wheel-drive, easy-entry third row access, easy-pack tailgate, intelligent lighting, glass electric sunroof and available air suspension with adaptive damping.
And there’s the full armada of safety equipment including a 360-degree camera and active blind spot and lane-keeping assist.
The full range is:
GL 350 BlueTEC $129,900
GL 500 Blue EFFICIENCY $154,900
GL 63 AMG $214,900
