Global Reveal Of The All-New Jaguar XJ In London
American TV chat show host and avid car collector Jay Lehno brought a touch of Hollywood to London when he hosted the official unveiling of the all-new Jaguar XJ sedan.
Held at the famous Saatchi Gallery in trendy Chelsea, the unveiling heralded the arrival of Jaguar’s stunning new flagship model.
Jaguar says the XJ is scheduled for Australian launch in March next year. In Europe the XJ will be sold in both standard and long wheelbase variants but local specifications have not been confirmed.
The magnificent proportions of the sleek sedan give it an elegant and contemporary look that is still uniquely Jaguar. A new panoramic glass roof allows a lower, more streamlined roofline and delivers a feeling of light and space inside.
Using aerospace technology, the XJ’s bodyshell is a lightweight aluminium structure – Jaguar says the new model is at least 150kgs lighter than rival luxury sedans which translates into improved performance, handling and economy while providing increased strength, refinement and safety. With 50 per cent recycled material, the new Jaguar also minimizes its carbon footprint, creating a potential saving of three tones of C)2 per vehicle compared to a normal bodyshell.
Inside is the very latest in Jaguar’s trademark luxury and quality, highlighted by chrome and piano black trim detailing. The sound system is a 1200W Bowers & Wilkins system with hard drive-based audio and navigation with comprehensive connectivity for portable audio and video devices.
In Europe, four engines are available – a 3.0-litre V6 diesel; naturally aspirated and supercharged 5.0-litre V8 petrol powerplants plus a new high performance 346kW version of the supercharged V8.
Keeping it all glued to the road with poise, precision and refinement are advanced technologies including air suspension, Adaptive Dynamics (continuously variable damping), Active Differential Control and quick-ratio power steering.
With the XK and XF models already pointing the way for the revitalized Jaguar brand, the striking new XJ will be eagerly anticipated by Jaguar fans Downunder.
