Peugeot Australia confirms that we will be getting the all-new 3008 crossover in the first quarter of 2017 with their new line of Euro-6 compliant diesel engines. No pricing has been announced yet but this next-generation version, Pug insists, is an entirely new car - with only the car’s name being carried over.
Built upon the PSA Group’s EMP2 platform which it shares with the Peugeot 308 hatch and Citroen C4 Picasso, the 3008 will be more crossover than the MPV that the previous version was leaning more towards in terms of design and position within the line-up.
The Euro 6 drivetrains will comprise of a Peugeot’s latest BlueHDi diesel units, ranging from a 1.6-litre four-cylinder to a high-output 2.0-litre lump in the higher-spec GT variants. All engines will be mated to an Aisin-sourced six-speed automatic transmission.
This second-generation 3008 premieres Peugeot’s iCockpit 2.0 dashboard, which esconces the driver with all the pertinent controls and switchgear for a focused and immersive driving experience which also includes an all-digital instrument cluster made up of high-resolution LCD displays.
Kai Brueewitz, Peugeot Australia’s General Manager, said the all-new 3008 will be just the first in a succession of new and refreshed vehicles in the brand’s 2017 assault: The launch of 3008 will coincide with a significant refocus and refresh of the brand and model line-up in Australia,”
