Renault Australia have revealed the local pricing and spec of the all-new Koleos SUV, which is due to have its global sales debut here in Australia on August 1st.
We previously covered the Koleos’ journey from show floor to show room, beginning with Renault first unveiling it to the public at the Beijing Auto Show back in April to its planned arrival to the market in the months that would follow, aiming to capture some of that SUV sales rush that the French marque has been somewhat neglecting with their ageing first generation Koleos not being able to match the competition.
It will be priced from $29,990 to $43,490 and spread over three trim levels - Life, Zen, and Intens – and be available as a front-wheel driven unit or equipped with four-wheel drive. All three variants will share a 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that delivers 126kW and 226Nm of torque, mated to an X-Tronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).
If that engine and gearbox package sounds familiar, that’s because the Koleos is rather closely relate to the Nissan X-Trail and as such the sister companies have both had an input on the new SUV.
Renault says that two-wheel drive versions can manage an maximum of 8.1-litres/100km while emitting 188g/km of CO2 while the four-wheel drive version’s figures rise slightly to 8.3-litres/100km and 192g/km.
The Koleos comes with a generous amount of kit as standard for its sub-$30k price tag such as automatic dual zone climate control, automatic wipers, LED taillights, 17-inch alloys, leather steering wheel, rear view camera, and an R-Link2 infotainment system.
The mid-tier Zen variant adds heated and power operated front seats, keyless entry, 18-inch alloys as well as an optional panoramic sunroof and equally optional safety pack that adds Advanced Emergency Braking, Blind Sport Warning, Forward Collision Warning – all of which are standard on the Intens.
Speaking of which the Intens goes even further with remote engine start functionality, LED headlights, Easy Park Assist, hands-free tail gate, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, interior ambient cabin lighting, Bose 12-speaker audio system, and a more advanced R-Link2 infotainment module with an 8.7-inch portrait display.
Renault Australia’s managing director, Justin Hocevar, said: “The all-new Koleos is an extremely important model for us. The new model is vastly different from anything we have offered in Australia. We are the first market to sell the all-new Koleos and performed local pre-series testing. Coupled with the vehicle’s outstanding specification levels and value for money, this demonstrates not only how important the Koleos is for Australia but also Renault’s global commitment to this market and our region.”
