Australia is to be the first market to receive the all-new Renault Koleos medium-sized SUV, with a local on-sale date announced to be on August 1st with a price tag that starts from $29,990 (+ORC).
The new second-generation Koleos, unveiled earlier this year at the Beijing Motor Show, will play an important role within the Renault line-up, with SUV’s being a popular seller and Renault Australia not really having any direct answer apart from the smaller Captur crossover and the ageing previous-generation Koleos.
Here, the all-new model will compete among strong rivals such as the Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5, Honda CR-V, and its close cousin, the Nissan X-Trail. Armed with Renault’s bold new design language, competitive base pricing, and an extensively list of upgraded kit, the Koleos isn’t without its own strengths.
Renault Australia’s marketing director Jason Miller said: “Australia is the first market in the world to launch the new Koleos, demonstrating how important this model is in the continued expansion of Renault’s business in Australia,”
“The new Koleos delivers on so many levels. It’s bigger both inside and out, is one of the roomiest medium SUVs in its class and enjoys a range of new technologies that provide convenience and peace of mind,”
“With its powerful design, SUV credentials and interior refinement, we are sure the new Koleos will be a hit with Aussie buyers.”
Pricing and specifications for the entire Koleos range has yet to be revealed, but at least one of the engine options will be a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that, if unaltered from the current Koleos, would produce 126kW and 226Nm.
Perhaps if Renault decides to carry over more engines from the current model, we might see the 127kW/360Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel make the jump as well and likely mated to a six-speed torque converter automatic.
Given the fast approaching launch date, we expect to hear more details about the upcoming Renault Koleos very soon.
