Car Showroom will be driving the all-new Subaru Forester in a couple of weeks ahead of its arrival in local dealerships early next year. In the meantime, the Forester has gonE on-sale in Japan and some details have emerged.
Subaru says we can expect new generation Boxer engines delivering reduced fuel consumption and exhaust emissions, a new continuously variable automatic transmission and a new six-speed manual for entry-level models.
Part of that improved fuel economy story will come from SI-Drive variable driving modes and auto start-stop which is standard on Subaru Foresters with the six-speed manual transmission.
Underneath is X-Mode and enhanced system for better off-road agility.
Subaru’s camera-based EyeSight system is also standard. EyeSight is a forward collision avoidance and land keeping-assist system.
Refinement takes a step forward with new soft-touch surfaces, there’s an auto-operation cargo door and a new multi-function display in the dashboard.
Locally Subaru will launch the all-new Forester along the lines of: “smarter, safer, further” to promote the technology, safety and improved fuel consumption of the new lineup.
“New Forester is an incredibly strong package from any perspective, whether style, features, safety or engineering,” explained Subaru Australia chief Nick Senior. “It builds impressively on Forester’s core values that have seen it dominate its sales segment in the past four years. And it retains its exclusive All-Wheel-drive ability, making it ideal for customers who value their recreational and lifestyle choices.”
