The Bavarian-based tuner pulled the covers off the B3 Saloon at the 46th Tokyo Motor Show where it donned the same ‘Green metallic’ paint job its wagon-bodied sibling wore at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show.

The B3 Saloon sports all the makings of an Alpina such as the ‘Classic’ alloys and subtly sculpted body kit that’s emblazoned with their signature logo placement on the chin splitter.

The interior, too, is classically Alpina; a blend of reserved, luxurious and tasteful. Lashings of supple Lavalina aniline leather envelope the cabin and can be made to accommodate a customer’s exacting wants.

As in the case of the B3 Touring, the Saloon will receive the same beating heart it does. To refresh your memory, it employs the same S58 3.0-litre straight-six that’s used in the BMW X3 M and X4 M. Power is routed through its xDrive system via an 8-speed ZF torque converter automatic.

The all-aluminum power house puts out 340kW and 700Nm thanks to re-engineered flow-optimised turbine housings and a performance cooling system that ensures thermal stability even under heavy load. Additionally, the Saloon’s two twin tailpipes are hooked up to bi-modal low-back pressure stainless steel exhaust system.

With the use of launch control, the B3 Saloon can catapult itself to 100km/h in just 3.8 seconds (one-tenth faster compared to the Touring) and will achieve a top speed of 303 km/h (300 km/h for the Touring).

Keeping the Saloon grounded and in-control (apart from the xDrive system) is an Alpina sports suspension setup that includes sportier springs and stiffer anti-roll bars. Working in tandem with that is a fettled Variable Damper Control program and variable sports steering system.

The Saloon’s performance is capped off with the addition of 395mm disc brakes on the front axle with a 345mm pair at the back. Optionally available are crossed-drilled discs squeezed by highly-heat resistant brake pads. The sports saloon ships with 20-inch ‘Classic’ alloy wheels (19-inch ‘Dynamic’s are optional) wrapped in specifically-developed Pirelli P Zero ALP tyres.
