Famed BMW tuner and factory collaborator Alpina have revealed their own version of the facelifted 7 Series, replete with the kind of visual and performance enhancing alterations we’ve come to expect. The company has been shy on images so far, only releasing two, but they’re enough to leave little to the imagination.
Starting with the exterior, the new B7 gains the signature set of forged 20-inch Alpina CLASSIC alloys (21s are optional) and the more aggressive front end with a sharper apron does help us look away from the enlarged pair of kidney grille nostrils.
This all-new B7 uses the 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 with the exact same tune used for the pre-facelift B7 Bi-Turbo version of the 7 Series, generating 447kW and 800Nm at their respective peaks. Despite this, this fresher iteration is able to reach 100km/h from rest in 3.6 seconds, 0.1 seconds quicker than its predecessor. Top speed, meanwhile, is 330km/h - same as before.
An 8-speed automatic transmission funnels thrust from the front-mounted engine before the xDrive system distributes them to the four driven wheels, all of which have received copious amounts of calibration work for quicker shifts and response, accounting for its storming acceleration.
Elsewhere, its exhaust system has been revised to deliver a more exhilarating soundtrack then Sport mode or higher is engaged, opening valves to allow for additional resonance and bass. Doing so will also alter the suspension behaviour for sharpness and stiffness while lowering the car’s ride height by 15mm.
