Aston Martin is less than a fortnight away from revealing its first ever SUV and as the headline says, the Gaydon-based manufacturer has affirmed the DBX’s price tag ahead of its November 20th premier in Beijing, which will be $357,000 before on-road costs in Australia.
While this may be an eye watering figure for most folks, it’s worth noting that the incoming DBX is priced very competitively when compared to its rivals. As it stands, the Aston sits slap-bang in the middle of its peers with it being cheaper than a $390,000 Lamborghini Urus and $403,670 Range Rover SV Autobiography but dearer than the (entry level) $334,700 Bentley Bentayga V8, while the range-topping Maserati Levante Trofeo comes in at $330,000.
Moving on from pricing, the marque has also revealed another key aspect of the DBX, the interior, which from the picture gives us a pretty good idea of what to expect. Obviously with an SUV of this price point you’re bound to find lashings of tan leather and milled aluminium trim pieces scattered throughout the cabin and the DBX is no exception.
The front pair of leather-wrapped bucket seats do more than just hold you in place as Aston Martin said it took their designers over 6 months to properly define its ideal driving position. “Crucially, the seating position also delivers a clear view of the bonnet to give confidence when in tight proximity to other cars,” said the company.
The photo of the interior also shows a well sized display living in the dashboard along with a Mercedes-Benz style infotainment controller situated atop the transmission tunnel. The brand says that there’s room beneath the floating lower centre console that’s able to store large items from handbags to 1.5-litre water bottles.
Propelling Gaydon’s first ever SUV is a bi-turbo 4.0-litre V8 sourced from Mercedes-AMG pumping out 404kW mated to a nine-speed automatic also from Mercedes. The British sports car maker says the DBX reportedly tips the scales at 2,245kg.
