Putting aside the One-77 special, the latest V12 Vantage S, announced overnight by Aston Martin is the British brand’s fastest road car.
Powered by Aston’s new AM28 6.0-litre V12 engine with 395kW/620Nm on-tap, the V12 Vantage S also debuts a new seven-speed Sportshift III ANT transaxle. The exhaust system is developed from the One-77 supercar and is lighter and smaller than the regular Vantage system…and its note is said to be even more appealing.
Underneath is another first for Aston Martin – three-stage adaptive damping (‘Normal’, ‘Sport’ and ‘Track’). There’s also a ‘Sport’ mode for the engine management system which delivers crisper gear-changes, throttle response and even the exhaust note.
The power steering is also adaptive and features a faster 15:1 ratio.
Front-end styling debuts a new look for Aston Martin along the lines of the CC100 Speedster concept car and sees much of the chrome replaced by carbon fibre or titanium silver. The V12 Vantage S sits on unique 10-spoke wheels and runs a black roof.
Inside are multiple seat and leather options and an optional carbon fibre interior pack.
