Both Italian brands to stay planted under Audi’s portfolio, at least for the foreeable future.
Now that the frenzy of the 'dieselgate' scandal has had time to settle, the dust has fallen onto the Volkswagen Group and their many offshoots to take practical action in order to get their ship pointed right.
Some speculate the possibility of a drastic move, such as the spinning off some of its less profitable ventures to help offset the cost of meding the legal and financial wounds (not to mention public perception) that have resulted from the Group’s emissions-rigging..transgression..that was exposed in September last year.
According to a report by Reuters, Audi CEO Rupert Stadler has firmly ruled out the possible sale of the two Italian brands under the company’s umbrella: Lamborghini and Ducati.
Stadler said during an earnings press conference last week at their headquarters in Ingolstadt, Germany: "Those brands belong to Audi and, together with us, have an excellent future."
Although at least for the forseeable future, Lamborghini and Ducati will remain with Audi, it is possible that certain limitations will be imposed upon them as the Volkswagen Group consolidates its assets to settle its expenses.
