Although not yet confirmed for local sale, the stunning Audi RS 5 Cabriolet has been unveiled in Europe.
.
The elegant four-seat convertible is powered by Audi’s audacious 4.2 FSI naturally-aspirated V8 engine which delivers 331kW430Nm and enables zero to 100km/h in just 4.9-seconds. Incidentally the Audi RS 5 Cabriolet delivers its maximum power at 8250rpm…yep, this baby loves to rev.
Drive is via Audi’s seven-speed dual-clutch S tronic automatic transmission and Quattro all-wheel-drive.
Suspension gets the RS treatment too with stiffer springs (20mm ride height reduction) and thicker anti-roll bars.
Styling detail is superb with the Audi RS 5 cabriolet gaining a ‘tornado line’ to define the shoulder, matt anodized aluminium window channels, windscreen frame and roof cover plus a matt aluminium look for the single frame grille with a honeycomb insert.
At the rear, new design tail-lights, a new rear bumper and higher diffuser distinguish the Cabriolet version.
The soft-top roof (available in black, grey, red or brown) takes 15-17 seconds to operate and even when folded the Audi RS 5 Cabriolet provides 320-litres of cargo space in the boot.
Inside are the usual Audi RS goodies such as the superb flat-bottom sports steering wheel, sports seats (leather/Alcantara or the optional lunar silver Fine Nappa leather) and black instrumentation with white graphics…there’s even a lap timer for track days.
