Audi’s all-new generation S1 and S1 Sportback, with a new 170kW/370Nm 2.0 TFSI engine and Quattro all-wheel drive will be in Australia by next Spring.
The compact segment’s first Quattro drivetrain is a headline, but so too is that new turbocharged engine – the combo good for zero to 100km/h in 5.8 seconds (S1) and 5.9 seconds (S1 Sportback).
Underneath is a unique suspension system with a four-link design for the rear (compound link under regular A1s) and modified pivot bearings up-front. The electromechanical power steering has also been re-tuned.
Brakes have been uprated and larger and the Audi S1 and S1 Sportback ride on 17-inch or 18-inch alloy wheels.
On the outside, the sporty range-toppers of the Audi A1 lineup score a stylish bodykit, new Xenon plus headlights and LED rear lights with horizontally-structured graphics.
Inside, the predominantly black interior gets the usual S additions such as a choice of two sports seats and stainless steel pedal caps.
Roll-on quarter three when we get to drive the all-new Audi S1 and S1 Sportback.
