BMW’s has announced details on updates for its slick X1 compact SUV – due for European launch in July.
The new X1 is exclusively diesel-powered – sDrive 18d, sDrive18d, 2Drive 20d EfficientDynamics, sDrive20d and the range-topping 163kW twin-turbocharged xDrive 25d. In Europe, the X1 will be available in Sport, xLine, SE and M Sport guise.
Externally, the new BMW X1 is identified by a new front-end (bumper, bonnet and grille) with new headlights, thinner plastics on the side and exterior mirror indicators and at the rear a re=designed hatch plus more prominent underbody guard.
Inside are numerous trim changes, highlighted by a major revision for the angled centre console. Equipment levels across the range have been enhanced.
All models except the sDrive 20d are available with BMW’s eight-speed automatic transmission (six-speed manual still available). And all feature fuel-saving auto start/stop and brake energy regeneration.
