BMW has boosted its large X6 model with a new, entry-level diesel variant priced at $109,900 – the X6 xDrive30d.
At the same time, BMW has addressed some criticism of the X6 lineup by adding an optional three-seat second row (previously the X6 was only a four-seater). The new seat still split-folds 60:40 for cargo versatility.
The X6 xDrive30d employs BMW’s 3.0-litre, common rail direct injection turbo-diesel engine, delivering 180kW/540Nm. Driving all four wheels via BMW’s superb eight-speed automatic transmission, the X6 xDrive30d covers zero to 100km/h in 7.5 seconds and boasts impressive combined cycle fuel economy of 7.4l/100kms.
Underneath – like all X6 models - the newcomer runs BMW’s Dynamic Performance Control which delivers sensational high performance driving dynamics in this large SUV.
Inside is the usual BMNW X6 opulence including Nevada leather sports seats, a sports leather steering wheel, head-up display, rear-view camera with top view and Professional navigation.
Amongst the goodies included in the $5,000 optional sports package are 20-inch alloy wheels (in place of the standard 19-inch versions).
The new BMW X6 range is on-sale from June.
