BMW Australia has introduced the second generation 1 Series lineup with a revised entry point price of $36,900 representing a five per cent cut over the previous model.
The new BMW 1 Series offers more personalization and simplified specifications with BMW Australia launching ‘BMW Lines’ – ‘Urban’ and ‘Sport’ for the 1 Series – each with unique design features and appointments.
Sport Line includes handy additions like 16-inch alloy wheels (17s optional), sports seats, leather sports steering wheel and unique instruments. Urban Line has its own interior appointments and wheels.
Power comes from a new turbocharged 1.6-litre, four-cylinder engine (100kW/220Nm for 116i and 125kW/250Nm for 118i models) and improved 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel.
Styling is evolutionary rather than ground-breaking however size is up considerably – 85mm longer wheelbase (extra rear seat space) and also 10 per cent more luggage space (now 360-litres or 1,200-litres with the rear seat folded).
Inside, the new interior boasts a 6.5-inch, free-standing flatscreen colour display and smart inclusions on the options list are Parking Assistant, Rear-View Camera and Lane Departure Warning.
