The X2 is BMWs newest addition to their present day portfolio and already the crossover is about to receive, for better or worse, some cosmetic upgrades in the form of a model specific series from the automaker’s M Performance Parts. These upgrades will be shown off at the Geneva Motor Show this week, along with items made for the also-new X3 and X4.
To those who reckon the X2 could stand to look a little more aggressive, the M Performance Parts items add/replace various bits to both the cabin and body while also improving weight and aero to a slight degree.
The front fascia treatment consists of a new set of kidney grilles in high gloss back while a slightly less flashy finished is applied to the lower front air intake and smaller portions of the rest of the bumpers. Side mirror caps, meanwhile, can be switched out with carbon fibre replacements.
Also available for the M2 are side lettering in Frozen White that denote the ‘M Performance’-ness of the car as well as new 20-inch wheels in matte black (Styling 717M). Inside, the X2 with the pack receives velvet-like floor mats, partially Alcantara seats, and a sports steering wheel with hand stitched detailing and a red centre marking at the 12 o’clock position.
For both the X3 and X4, the M Performance aftermarket upgrades consist of the same high gloss kidney grilles and dark exterior highlights, carbon fibre mirror caps, and ‘M Performance’ side lettering. Lastly, there’s positively huge 21-inch alloys in the Y-spoke 701M bicolour wheels - also available as 19-inchers.
BMW also includes the option of purchasing LED door projectors that illuminate the surface just outside the ingress/egress point with a BMW-themed graphic, dependent on customer choice. Inside, the X3 and X4 receives the same performance steering wheel as the X2 with a red 12 o’clock reference point. The shift paddles behind said wheel can also be had in carbon fibre.
Examples of the X2, X3, X4 wearing the full selection of their model-specific M Performance Parts will be on display in Geneva, but following this BMW should have these Performance Parts available shortly after local availability commences the various markets, ready for purchase individually or as a complete kit.
