Update: BMW Australia has confirmed to CarShowroom that the production of the 6 Series Coupe bound only for the North American market has ceased. Examples made for other regions, Australia included, continue as before.

If you were eyeing your very own brand new BMW 6 Series Coupe (F13), you may want to hurry your efforts as the German automaker has simply stopped producing the car. Mind you, the Convertible and four-door Gran Coupe body styles are still being made.
The change was first discovered by Road & Track, who noticed that the 6’ coupe had disappeared from the line-up. BMW dealers over the world still have a good supply of inventory for the coupe, however, so purchasing a brand new 2017 model is still an open option, though not one that will be around for much longer.
This also means that BMW has discontinued the M6 Coupe as well, leaving just the Gran Coupe and Convertible versions.
After R&T contacted BMW, a spokesperson revealed that production actually ended in February, and given the rumblings of BMW purported to be planning a new revived 8 Series range to supersede the current 6 Series, the car is unlikely to ever return.
It’s not secret either that the 6 Series in general doesn’t receive the same kind of strong sales numbers of other BMW models. In the Coupe space alone, they sell far more units of the 2 Series and 4 Series.
Moving the large two-door further upmarket and repositioning it as something of a 7 Series Grand Tourer (instead on the 5-Series) with fewer doors and more of a driver focus could help matters and stabilise BMW’s high end position.
