BMW’s new 1 Series and 5 Series have won their segments in the prestigious ‘Auto Trophy 2011’ awards handed-out by Germany’s authoritative ‘Auto Zeitung’ magazine.
At the awards ceremony in Dusseldrof, BMW was also honoured by receiving the magazine’s ‘Quality Trophy 2011’, an award in conjunction with the German technical inspection organization Gesellschaft fur Technische Uberwachung (GTU) and based on around 8 million technical inspections undertaken within the last two years. The award particularly praised the quality of BMW’s 1 Series, 6 Series and 7 Series models.
Over 100,000 ‘Auto Zeitung’ readers were part of the Auto Trophy 2011 process, choosing their favourites from around 400 models in 28 categories.
The BMW 1 Series got the ‘gong’ in the compact class, capturing 28 per cent of the total votes, while the BMW 5 Series came out on top in the upper-range segment garnering 37 per cent of the votes.
