BMW has finally said what we’ve known for a while, that the new-generation Z4 will make its debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in late August. The roadster, making its global debut, will be joined by the BMW M850i Coupe and the BMW Concept M8 GranCoupe, with the latter two cars making their North American debuts at the prestigious event.

At launch, the Z4 roadster will be made available in the US market with just two models: An sDrive30i and an M40i. The 30i will use a 2.0-litre 4-pot turbo petrol mill making some amount of kilowatts and newton-metres, whereas the M40i (which is arguably more important) will use a 3.0-litre straight-6 turbo-petrol motor, producing a full 285kW and 530Nm.

Unfortunately, the Z4 will only be available with an automatic, but at least it’s the tried, tested, and well-liked 8-speed ZF unit that BMW uses liberally across their portfolio of cars.

The Z4 will go on sale in the States in the second-quarter of 2019, with a price tag starting above US$50k and top-out at around US$70k ($68k-$95k) for the sDrive30i and M40i respectively. For the time being, BMW’s made no mention of an upcoming full-fat M model of the Z4, though we’re confident that there has to be one in the pipeline.

We’re very excited to see the introduction of the new-generation Z4. Alongside the new 8-Series, 2018 is shaping up to be a great year for BMW, and we’re looking forward to getting our hands on these two awesome sports cars very soon.
