Buick Avenir Designed and Built in Port Melbourne

Ahead of the official opening of the Detroit Motor Show Buick have unveiled the Holden designed Buick ‘Avenir’.  The Buick Avenir was designed and built at Holden’s headquarters in Port Melbourne.

The Buick Avenir comes with all-wheel-drive, a nine-speed automatic, adjustable dampers and an all-new direct-injected V6 engine.  Measuring in at 5200mm the Buick Avenir it is no shrinking violet, in fact it’s the same size as the current generation Holden Caprice.

The exterior design was lead by Port Melbourne-based Martin Love and Frank Rudolph and a team of 140 designers completed the interior design. Many of the designers involved are graduates of Australian institutes, including Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology,

The design studio is only one of two in the world for GM that has the ability to design and build a functioning show car.
