Kia Australia have added new variants to their Cerato and Sportage ranges, respectively the Sport and Si Premium, bringing certain cosmetic flourishes and equipment additions into the mix of price points.
We kick off with the new Cerato variant which sits below the Cerato Si automatic and replacing the previous variant occupant, the Cerato S Premium. To live up to the ‘Sport’ badge, the $22,450 (drive away) Cerato Sport features 17-inch alloys and a rear spoiler (sedan only).
Inside, there’s a 7-inch colour touchscreen with satellite navigation as well as support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, faux leather wrapped steering wheel and shift lever trim, chrome interior door handles, and soft-touch interior upper door trim. In addition to the standard Clear White, it will be offered in three premium exterior colours: Silky Silver, Snow White pearl, and Metal Stream.
No changes to the powertrain were mentioned, leaving us to assume the same 2.0-litre MPI four-cylinder returns unchanged, offering 112kW and 192Nm. The Sport is only available with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The Sportage Si Premium, however, enters the SUV space at an aggressively priced $30,990 and comes as standard with a set of 18-inch alloys, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with in-built navigation, CarPlay and Android Auto support, and automatic climate control. Front parking sensors and rain-sensing wipers are also standard kit.
The naturally aspirated 2.0-litre MPI petrol engine returns here too, powering the Sportage Si Premium with 114kW and 192Nm and mated to a 6-speed auto, sending drive to the front wheels. Like the Cerato, the Clear White exterior colour is complemented by three other premium finishes: Mineral Silver, Fiery Red, and Sparkling Silver.
