Alfa Romeo is saying so-long to its current Spider range in style with the launch of a final, limited edition 1750 TBi model.

And despite its extra goodies and performance, the Alfa Romeo Spider 1750 TBi carries the same sticker price as its 2.2-litre predecessor - $69,990.

Under the bonnet, the new model enjoys 147kW/320Nm from Alfa Romeo’s turbocharged 1.7-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine, driving through a six-speed manual transmission. Zero to 100km/h takes just 7.2 seconds and combined cycle fuel consumption is rated at 8.2l/100kms.

Outside are new 19-inch alloy wheels while inside, the new model gains the beautiful Frau Pieno Fiore leather seats with electronic adjustment – as fitted to the range-topping 3.2 JTS Q4 model.

Other standard features include Bluetooth, dual-zone climate control and a six-speaker CD sound system.

Like most modern convertibles, the Alfa Romeo Spider offers an electronic folding roof, wind break and chrome roll bars.

Good news too for the range-topping Alfa Romeo Spider 3.2 JTS Q4 which has been lopped by $11,000 to now retail for $84,990.

Developed by Alfa Romeo’s long-time style partner Pininfarina, the gorgeous current Spider model is the latest in a lineage dating back 80 years and made especially famous by Dustin Hoffman in his role in the movie ‘The Graduate’.
