When Holden pulled the wraps off of the new Commodore last December, there were quarters wondering if there’d be a hotter variant to join the lineup, and what it would look like if it were to come to fruition. The chaps at RMCarDesign must’ve been wondering the same thing when they saw the new Opel Insignia, because they’ve gone to the trouble of rendering what such a model might look like.
With their imaginations guiding them, the Insignia Grand Sport (as a Vauxhall VXR) features light blue paint, with contrasting blacked-out elements dotted around the car for an additional dose of aggression. The whole thing sits lower to the ground on huge wheels, setting off the whole thing. Though they haven’t done an interior rendering, a model like this would likely benefit from sportier seats, a VXR-branded steering wheel, and other parts around the cabin.
At present, General Motors has not confirmed what a hot Commodore would be powered by, though some reports are discussing a tuned V6 with about 260kW on the cards. This model would likely be saloon-only, though we’re liking the idea of a hot Sportswagon too.
