The Federal Chambers of Automotive Industries (FCAI) is reminding fellow Australians that car dealerships are indeed open and ready to help their customers replace their faulty Takata airbag inflator modules.

“We understand this is a very stressful time in our community, but we can’t afford to lose sight of the safety of our cars, especially when private transport has now become so important. Vehicle owners should not delay or they will risk the safety of themselves and their passengers,” said Mr Tony Weber. Chief executive of FCAI.

That said, over 10.1 million-vehicle checks have been made on the Takata airbag recall website, www.ismyairbagsafe.com.au. Of these, more than 1.6 million vehicles had been identified with being equipped with faulty airbag inflators.

According to a report by GoAuto, more than 2.59 million cars affected by the ongoing recall have been fixed/corrected, while a staggering 206,840 vehicles had been identified as unreplaceable. This effort translates to roughly 91 per cent of the total affected number having been rectified.

If you haven’t gotten your car checked yet, we urge you to please visit www.ismyairbagsafe.com.au or text the word TAKATA to 0487 247 224 immediately.
