Nissan has completed the lineup of its acclaimed all-new X-TRAIL range with the launch of turbo-diesel models in both front-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive.

2014 NISSAN X-TRAIL 4D WAGON

Kick-off for Nissan X-TRAIL diesel is TS 2WD CVT auto priced at $35,380 while four-wheel-drive models are only offered with a six-speed manual transmission and your entry-level model is the TS at $35,680 (Nissan has followed its current trend by offering petrol models in ST, ST-L and Ti grade (the latter four-wheel-drive only) and diesel variants in two grades – TS and TL.

Diesel-powered Nissan X-Trail uses the R9M 1.6-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine developed by alliance partner Renault.

With 96kW/320Nm and combined-cycle fuel consumption of 5.3l/100kms, the latest Nissan X-TRAIL diesel enjoys the same power as the previous model’s 2.0-litre dCi engine but is considerably more fuel-efficient and cleaner in exhaust emissions.

Contributing to that story is auto start/stop and a lighter weight (the new Renault-developed engine is 30kgs lighter than the previous dCi powerplant).

Of course the all-new X-TRAIL is also a lot more aerodynamic than its predecessor.
