Here’s news to get Fiat Abarth fans pumped – the high-performance Abarth 695 ‘biposto’ which debuted at the Geneva Motor Show is under consideration for sale in Australia.
Even in very low volumes, the 141kW turbocharged 1.4-litre pocket rocket would be a hit with Fiat fans who crave some track day action.
In fact, the Abarth 695 ‘biposto’ is very similar to the ‘Assetto Corse’ cup racers which scored a class win at last month’s Bathurst 12-Hour.
That means the 141kW turbocharged 1.4-litre engine, driving the front wheels, Brembo brakes, Zender bodykit, aluminium bonnet, carbon-fibre exterior mirrors, Akrapovic exhaust, titanium rear roll bar by Poggipolini and 18-inch OZ Racing lightweight alloy wheels.
Inside, the interior is stripped of a lot of the luxury items and the rear seat and instead Abarth installs two Abarth Corsa by Sabelt lightweight racing seats with four-point safety harnesses and MXL digital data logger.
Weighing just 997kgs, the Fiat Abarth 695 ‘biposto’ covers zero to 100km/h in 5.9 seconds.
That dripping noise you hear is Aussie Fiat fans salivating at the prospect of securing a car juts like the ones they saw at Bathurst last month.
