Holden engineers have their hands on the first road-going version of the Volt electric vehicle.
The left-hand-drive sample car could be seen on roads around Sydney and Canberra in coming months as it undergoes testing.
“The engineering department will use these validation exercises to ensure the electrical infrastructure around the country supports the Volt and that the recharging process is as seamless as possible for customers,” revealed Holden’s Paul Gibson.
The Holden Volt is an extended range electric vehicle which runs solely on electricity – a small petrol engine cuts-in purely to charge the lithium ion battery. Owners in North America have reported a range between refueling up to 2300kms.
Holden will launch the Volt locally towards the end of next year but you can follow its progress at: www.holden.com.au/volt
