Ford Falcon Lineup gains Reduced Fuel Consumption and Extra Kit for Upgraded

Ford has launched the upgraded 2010 Falcon range with extra fuel economy and inclusions but no V8 engine – at least until later in the year.

The all-six cylinder lineup starts at $40,290 for the XT Sedan while the entry level Falcon Ute is priced at $31,095. Look for the new Falcon range in Ford dealerships from June.

While there are no styling changes, the big news is enhanced fuel economy and Euro IV compliance for the 4.0-litre six-cylinder engine.

And the excellent ZF six-speed automatic is now available across the range, including a column-shift version for the ute (to allow seating for three people).

Fuel consumption for the naturally-aspirated sedans is down by 5.7 per cent to 9.9l/100kms while the turbocharged G6E decreases by 2.0 per cent to 11.4l/100kms. Exhaust emissions are down to 236g/km.

Utes score even better with fuel consumption down by 8.5 per cent to 10.7l/100kms.

Much of the engineering changes centered on a new catalytic converter and changes to the engine management system.
