The Ford Fiesta ST has long been one of the most fun small performance hatchbacks out there, but while previous generations didn’t quite have an issue with power, the latest one does, somewhat. The three-cylinder engine produces about 147kW and 290Nm as standard, which is pretty alright and quite balanced when you take into account the suspension tuning of the thing. But for those who want more, they now have Mountune.

A reputable aftermarket tuning firm, Mountune has just launched the m225 upgrade kit, which can be applied to your Ford Fiesta ST via smartphone. And through that flash upgrade, you can bump your ST up from 147kW/290Nm all the way up to 165kW and 340Nm.

According to the company, the m225 upgrade shortens the Fiesta ST’s century sprint time to “below the 6-second mark,” while a whole second is removed when doubling. Your speed from 30km/h.

The m225 upgrade offers up no less than three distinct modes: Performance, Stock, and Anti-Theft. Performance unlocks all of that extra power & torque, an “enhanced audible exhaust output,” and a sharper launch control. ‘Stock’ puts everything back the way it should be, while ‘Anti-Theft’ basically locks out anything and everyone.

The m225 upgrade is applied to the Fiesta ST via the Mountune mTune SMARTflash app, which permits owners to install upgrades and change their car’s setup via their smartphone. They say that it can take as little as two minutes, and requires “no laptop, no wires, no handsets.”

The m225 is offered by Mountune for £622 (or a little over $1100), and is presently not available in Australia. Ford Australia has gone as far as to clarify that there are ‘no plans to offer Mountune locally,’ which very quickly pours cold water for any of you who had ideas about a tarted-up Ford Fiesta ST. But that said, the hot small Ford is coming very soon, so be sure to stay tuned to CarShowroom as we bring you updates as they come.
