We’ve heard about the latest white hot, specially-fettled, racing-prepped Focus RS developed by Ford Performance in collaboration with UK-based M-Sport called the RS RX, to be piloted by Ken Block and Andreas Bakkerud in the FIA World Rallycross Championship.

But prior to its full racing debut in Portugal for the season opener, Ford has released a video showing the drivers of factory-backed team Hoonigan Racing Division taking their new cars for a proper shakedown around a muddy circuit.

Lots of mud is kicked up at high speed as the Focus RS RX’s 447kW+ heavily turbocharge 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine channels all that fury through all four wheels.

Further proof of the RS RX’s beastly nature is its blindingly quick 0-100km/h sprint time of just under 2 seconds.

The first race of the World Rallycross Championship takes place in Portugal’s Vila region near the town of Montalegre and will be the highest event on the World RX calender at 1800 metres above sea level.

Just prior to the race itself, the teams (consisting of 23 cars in total) will be undergoing a test session Kirkbride airfield in Cumbria, United Kingdom.
