FPV Brings Back The GS Badge

Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) has brought the famous GS badge back with a limited edition Falcon sedan and ute - both powered by a modified version of the 5.4-litre V8 GT engine.

The company says the GS range will broaden FPV's appeal to enthusiasts by providing a lower entry price to the FPV lineup.

FPV GS ute is priced at $49,950 and the sedan model is priced at $54,950 - both considerably less than their F6 model siblings.

However - as you would expect from FPV - the GS models are still loaded with performance features and boast the macho looks demanded by performance car buyers.

Under the bonnet is the marvelous 5.4-litre V8 - tuned specifically for the GS Series - driving through a standard six-speed manual transmission or optional six-speed automatic.

Featuring the twin throttle bodies, intake system and headers of the 315kW GT engine, FPV developed a dual exhaust system and recalibrated the ECU (Engine Control Unit) to deliver 302kW of power and an impressive 551Nm of torque.

Inside is charcoal cloth trim, climate control air-conditioning, FPV GT instrumentation, an FPV gear knob, starter button and badging. Audios get upgraded to a premium system with iPod and Bluetooth integration.

On the outside you'll find GS striping graphics. Sedan models also get '302' graphics on the bootlid spoiler while GS utes gain an FPV soft tonneau cover (a hard tonneau with integrated spoiler is optional).

For wheels, the sedan rides on 19'inch 'Graphite' alloys and the ute sits on 19-inch 'Alpine Silver' alloys. The sedan is available in a choice of six exterior colour/stripe combinations with three combos slated for the ute.

Options include FPV-spec 4-pot Brembo brakes, leather seats and satellite navigation.

Currently production of the GS sedan is limited to 250 vehicles while the GS ute is even rarer with only 75 scheduled for sale.

The new additions to the FPV lineup rekindle memories of the original high performance Falcon GS which appeared with the XW model Falcon back in 1969. The XW GS is now the second most collectible Falcon behind the GT.

"Our aim was to develop a model that provides the performance, prestige and individuality that is a signature of the FPV brand, with its own identifiable model personality and all at a great price," revealed FPV General Manager Rod Barrett.
