The Ford Motor Company has recently announced that they will be investing US$1.45 billion or 2.08 billion Australian dollars in two manufacturing plants in Detroit, Michigan that’s slated to produce the new Bronco, Ranger, F-150, F-150 Hybrid and eventually, the fully-electric F-150.
Ford will invest US$750 million (AU$1.07b) into the manufacturing facility located in Wayne County, Michigan that’ll churn out the all-new Bronco and Ranger trucks as well as a new modification centre. Over the course of the next three years, the plant will add 2,700 new jobs.
Further, the Blue Oval will be adding 300 new jobs and invest US$700 million (AU$1.002 billion) into its Dearborn, Michigan manufacturing complex. The retooling of this factory will see the production of the F-150 Hybrid and the fully-electric F-150 pickup truck. The marque will also be creating a new operation in Dearborn to assemble energy cells into battery packs for use in future electrified F-150 variants.
This year, Ford says they’ll be debuting the all-new F-150 which will include the Hybrid and later, the fully-electric variant as part of the company’s more than US$11.5 billion (AU$ 16.47 billion) global electrified vehicle investment.
