Ford’s all-new Falcon will make its public debut – in XR8 guise only – at the ‘Outside The Oval’ art exhibition in Melbourne’s 1000 Pound Gallery (Little Lonsdale Street) 4-5 October however the full-on national media preview is still some months away.
Ahead of that, Ford has confirmed the new model lineup and features.
The updated and last-ever Ford Falcon will be offered in six sedan models – Falcon, G6E, G6E Turbo and the sporty models XR6, XR6 Turbo and XR8.
And Ford Falcon will continue to be the only locally-made large car with a choice of four-cylinder, six-cylinder and V8 engines.
As well, there will be five Falcon ute models – Cab Chassis, Styleside Box, XR6 Cab Chassis, VR6 Styleside Box and XR6 Turbo Stylesdie Box.
On the styling front there are new front and rear fascias with a Falcon version of Ford’s global trapezoidal grille, new laser-cut slim headlights and split LED tail-lights and a new sculptured bootlid with integrated spoiler.
G6E models add chrome detailing for the front, and signature lighting.
Standard wheel size is 16-inch alloys or 18-inch alloys for G6E.
Also look for a G6E-uniquwe new paint colour called ‘Fine Alloy’.
On the inside, G6E adopts a new colour called ‘Light Limestone’ or black for G6E Turbo an a new perforated leather=wrapped steering wheel with accent colour stitching.
Across the range there’s a new ‘Interior Command Centre’ eight-inch colour touchscreen and better connectivity with a Wi-Fi hotspot and Ford’s SYNC2 system including DAB+ audio, climate control and telephone information.
Lots of new technology too with front/rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera with fixed and active guidelines.
The ‘Outside The Oval’ art exhibition supports the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and, as well as the new Falcon XR8, includes 30 artworks produced by the Ford Design Team including the ‘Falcon Art Car’.
