Private buyers looking to compare the value of different vehicles should consider whole of life costs.
Purchase price, running costs and retained value all have to be taken into account. This applies as much to used cars as new ones. And either way the Hyundai Getz is a winner.
NRMA Motoring & Services found the Getz S to be the most cost-effective vehicle to own and operate in 2009. That represents a pretty substantial endorsement, especially given the size of the field in which it competes, which is to say every new car sold in Australia.
Recently the highly regarded Wheels magazine hailed the 2006 Getz SX 1.6 three-door as its ‘Light Segment Used Car Star’. Indeed, the magazine’s features editor, John Cadogan wrote: 'A sub-$10K entry price and 2-3 years remaining warranty coupled with dirt-cheap running costs make the diminutive 2006 Getz an unbeatable 'used' proposition.'
The 2006 Getz SX 1.6 3 door is fitted with an economic 1.6 litre petrol engine delivers a fuel consumption* figure of 6.2 litres / 100 km (when mated to the 5 speed manual transmission). As well as standard ABS, the car is also fitted with dual front airbags, active front head restraints, sunglasses capsule, glove box illumination, sun visors with vanity mirrors and a 45 watt x 4 MP3 / WMA audio system with steering wheel mounted audio controls.
The 2006 Getz cars were sold in a range of bright exterior colours, so there is plenty of choice. Over 20,000 Getz cars were sold in 2006, a testament to how popular the Getz brand is in Australia.
