Rolls-Royce has landed a major coup by signing Englishman Giles Taylor as Design Director.
Car Showroom spent considerable time with Mr Taylor two years ago when he unveiled the XJ Jaguar at the Frankfurt Motor Show – the XJ was one of two Jaguar model series he designed during ten years as executive designer for the ‘Big Cat’. The XJ Jaguar’s ground-breaking design has received international acclaim and is still regarded as one of the slickest luxury sedan design of the current era.
In his new role, Mr Taylor will report to BMW’s Group Design chief Adrian van Hooydonk (BMW owns Rolls-Royce). “Giles Taylor brings with him exceptional design skills and a comprehensive understanding of British values and heritage that are crucial to Rolls-Royce,” Mr Van Hooydonk said.
