Oh, and it’s got a 7-year warranty. Score.

2017 Holden Colorado Storm

Holden has brought in a new limited-edition of its very capable Colorado ute, called the ‘Storm.’ The Colorado Storm joins the range between the LTZ mid-range variant and top-spec Z71. Available in crew-cab form only, the Colorado Storm certainly looks the part, thanks to some visual beefing-up to help it stand out from the rest of the range.

There are no changes to the mill under the hood, so the Colorado Storm benefits from the surprisingly-smooth 2.8-litre turbodiesel that the rest of the range employs too. There’s 147kW and up to 500Nm of twist on tap (manual models get 440Nm), with power sent to all-four wheels via either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic (a $2200 premium). There’s a selectable four-wheel drive system that allows for drivetrain changes on the fly, which is surprisingly handy when you come out of the bush and onto bitumen.

The Holden Colorado Storm gets a bunch of niceties, mostly aesthetic, to set it apart from the rest of the Colorado range. There’s a nudge bar up front (replete with proximity sensors so you don’t accidentally nudge something you don’t want to), leather seats inside, a bonnet protector up front, and heated front pews.

Prices start at $52,490 for the Colorado Storm manual, while automatic models retail for $54,690 (both prices without ORCs). But for the time being, Holden is offering the Colorado Storm at a heavily-discounted $51,990 drive-away for both automatic and manual options, with the promotion valid until the end of October, replete with a 7-year warranty.

If the Colorado Storm isn’t quite flash enough for you, there’s an available range of Holden certified accessories that you can fit to your Colorado, the way Matt ‘Wilko’ Wilkinson did with his Colorado Z71.
