Holden will add to its SUV lineup next year with the addition of the an all-new compact model called the Trax.
GM’s next global SUV debuts in September – as a Chevrolet – at the Paris Motor Show and will be sold in more than 140 markets throughout the world.
Holden is working with GM’s global product development division on specific specifications and calibration for local conditions – expect to see some Holden Trax models on the road undergoing local testing ahead of the 2013 launch.
We can expect the five-seater will offer plenty of luggage space and, according to international reports, will be offered with both petrol and diesel powerplants.
“Holden is well recognized within the GM world for our expertise in engine and transmission calibration and we are very pleased to be involved with the development of this important vehicle,” explained Holden’s powertrain engineering chief Simon Cassin. “We are working closely with the homeroom on global calibration work and of course making further refinements to ensure Trax will be well suited to Australian roads and conditions when it arrives next year.”
