Holden has confirmed its all-new large passenger car arriving in 2018 will continue to wear the ‘Commodore’ badge.
The company says feedback from customers drove the decision to badge the newcomer – probably a Buick model manufactured in China – as a Commodore.
Holden held 17 customer research sessions and more than 70 per-cent of respondents favoured the Commodore name being attached to the newcomer even though it will have no ties to previous Australian-developed vehicles.
German Stefan Jacoby (former Volkswagen Group Australia director and now boss of international operations for General Motors) said: “I cannot reveal full details of the next-generation vehicle, but I can say it will either compare very favourably or improve on the current Commodore’s dynamic performance, acceleration, fuel economy, running costs and mass.”
That’s a very big claim considering the current VF Commodore ranks amongst the world’s best large cars for driving dynamics and performance…and at a fraction of the cost of most rivals.
