A timely announcement from Holden as most State and Private schools and pre-schools start their final terms before the long Christmas break – Holden’s free child-restraint checking service ‘Buckle Up Kids’ has expanded to South Australia.
Now motorists in Victoria and South Australia can visit www.holden.com.au/buckleupkids to secure the free child restraint check and to apply for a ‘Buckle Up Kids’ event or visit. Under the Holden-backed program a professional child restraint fitter visits child care centres, kindergartens and primary schools.
Research undertaken by the RACV points to 70 per cent of child restraints being incorrectly fitted or adjusted. ‘Buckle Up Kids’ is a program to educate parents and caregivers on how to perform the tasks correctly.
Simultaneously with the ‘Buckle Up Kids’ announcement, Holden confirmed all 2012 model year Commodores will be fitted with Automatic Locking Retractor (ALR) seatbelts in the rear. ALR uses a gear-driven cinching mechanism to safely secure child seats.
