Metal wire degradation could lead to engine cut-out.
Holden has issued a recall order for their a certain number of their Cruzes equipped with a diesel engine. The problem stems from a possible wiring defect that could lead to the engine cutting out unexpectedly during normal driving conditions.
The automaker says that all 2.0-litre diesel Holden Cruzes manufactured between February 26, 2009 and February 22, 2011 with vehicle identification numbers (VIN) between KL3JA69RJAK501774 and KL3JF69RJAK774710 fall within the recall.
Holden says that the issue typically occurs during slow speed driving or at idle caused by a worn electrical connector linked to the car’s electronic control module (ECM) that short circuits after the wire has degraded enough due to fretting corrosion (as a result of vibration and contact).
Customers will be contacted in writing in order to arrange a vehicle inspection as possible at an authorised Holden service centre, with no-charge repairs to be taken if necessary.
