Good news for Holden fans with an Australian International Motor Show (Sydney) reveal of the all-new Malibu mid-size sedan. And, as Car Showroom has reported previously, Holden’s newcomer is a good–looker with lots of interior space...and that combo should appeal to mid-size sedan customers when it goes on-sale mid next year.
And Holden used the motor show to announce the Malibu will be offered with both petrol and diesel engines. Petrol power will come from a 2.4-litre four-cylinder and the diesel will be a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel. Both will drive via a six-speed automatic transmission.
Holden is currently doing extensive engineering evaluation to finalize a unique suspension tune for Australian Malibus.
On the equipment front, Holden says the Malibu will be kitted with Holden MyLink (uses wireless technology to provide some smartphone apps control), rear park assist, ESC, premium audio and a colour touchscreen.
Malibu – like Ford’s Mondeo – is a genuine global car as Holden chief Mike Devereux was keen to point out. “Malibu is a strong example of the exciting new generation products coming from General Motors,” Mr Devereux said. “It’s a genuine premium sedan with strong visual appeal, mid-size interior packaging, Holden-tuned ride and handling and a surprising list of standard features.”
Holden will reveal the full Malibu story ahead of local sales mid next year.
