Holden’s Cruze hatchback, first shown as a Chevrolet at the Paris Motor Show, was re-fettled with Holden badges for display in Melbourne.
Another triumph for the talented design team at Holden’s Port Melbourne studios, the good-looking Cruze hatchback goes into production at the Elizabeth plant in South Australia ahead of local launch later this year.
Holden designer Martin Love played a key role in developing the Cruze hatch and his task was difficult given the broad buyer profile.
“The customer base for a compact hatch is perhaps the most diverse imaginable,” Mr Love revealed. “A vehicle in this segment needs to appeal to families through to empty nesters as well as young, urban professionals.”
Holden’s solution in the Cruze hatchback is a dynamic look, obviously tied to the sedan versions but boasting a low, sweeping roof-line, raised beltline and a European-inspired rear end.
Chevrolet Cruze hatch is already on-sale in England and Korea. Local testing is running full-pace ahead of Australian on-sale later this year.
