Holden will be offering a substantially extended warranty for all models in their line-up for cars purchased from now until December 31st, 2017. That means buyers during this period will be have their warranties valid for more than double the normal 3-year coverage duration.
Set against a 175,000km ticker, the Holden period/distance coefficient is constrained compared to Kia’s 7-year/unlimited package, but it does outperform Holden’s other key rivals such as Ford and Toyota, both having set their bars at 100,000km. Hyundai, on the other hand, does offer a standard 5-year warranty capped at 160,000km while Mazda’s unlimited coverage is only blemished by its 3-year duration.
The promotional extension does not effect the peripheral after-sales perks either as capped-price servicing, road-side assistance, and 24-hour test programs remain unaltered. Even better is that Holden does not distinguish between cars sold at special driveaway prices either, which is what is likely to happen as the company ramps down its local manufacturing, ceasing entirely on October 20th.
Even the 2017 Commodores, which have thus far been exempt from retail offers, are also eligible for the extended 7-year warranty. And Holden’s upcoming medium SUV, the Equinox, will also receive the said extended warranty provided it be purchased between its on-sale date of December 1st and the extended warranty promotion end date of 31st December.
