Honda North America’s R&D chief Erik Berkman says his operation will be driving development of the all-new Civic.
As we know, Honda North America is already in the drivers’ seat for development of the new NSX sports car, but Mr Berkman told a conference in Detroit the Civic was now in-house in the U.S.A. as well.
There’s no question Honda needs the next Civic – and also the larger Accord - to fire in North America to end a sales slide which now sees Nissan’s Altima (due in Australia next year) outselling the once impenetrable Accord in the American mid-size market segment.
Honda Australia brings local Civics from plants in Britain (hatchback) and Thailand (sedan).
