Honda recently revealed that the second-generation NSX will indeed be headed for sale in Australia, but that only 5 dealers will have the privilege of carrying them. Not much was said beyond that, but now the exact price and specifications have come to light.
At $420,000, the NSX’s technology and performance potential do line up with its price tag, skirting the line between cars such as the Lamborghini Huracan and the McLaren 650S. However, unlike those two cars, the NSX operates in a somewhat separate league due to its hybrid powerplant.
To recap, the NSX will arrive fully hand-built from Honda’s Performance Manufacturing Centre in Ohio to Yarra Honda (VIC), Scotts Honda (NSW), Austral Honda (QLD), Nordic Honda (SA), and Burswood Honda (WA). Currently, there is only a single NSX on our soil which making its tour of the country, visiting those five aforementioned dealers to entice prospective customers. Buyer deliveries are due to begin in early 2017.

For that $420k, the NSX will come with nearly every optional interior and exterior extra that the car would be offered with elsewhere. That includes the carbon fibre exterior and interior trim pack as well as carbon-ceramic brakes as standard.
Aside from those additions, there’s nearly nothing that separates the car that Australian customers will be receiving and those sold anywhere else in the world. It’s powered by the same 427kW/645Nm hybrid drive system that comprises of a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 mated to a 9-speed dual-clutch transmission, a rear-mounted direct drive motor, and two more electric motors that each drive one front wheel.
Honda claims the NSX is able to accelerate to 100km/h from rest in a shattering 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 307km/h.
The NSX will be available with a range of 8 exterior colours and a choice of four interior trim options. Three solid paint finishes will be offered as standard, while a metallic paint will set you back an extra $1,500. However, the Valencia Red Pearl finish seen here is developed with special aerospace polymers from Andaro, making it a $10,000 cost option.
