Honda has just pulled the wraps off its all-new fourth generation Jazz or Fit as it’s known in some markets by President and CEO Takahiro Hachigo at the 46th Tokyo Motor Show. The compact hatch is headlined by its powertrain, Honda Connect and Honda Sensing.
Right off the bat not much is known about its drivetrain capacity, performance or economy apart from utilising a two-motor setup fed by a lithium-ion battery pack and assisted by a small-capacity Atkinson-cycle engine dubbed e:HEV.
Hachigo said that the launch of the Jazz was the start of the brand’s rollout of its e:Technology sub-brand. This is in line with their 2030 electrification plan where it hopes to achieve two thirds of its sales numbers from electrified vehicles.
Honda will also begin providing a new service which utilises an onboard communication system called Honda Connect. This module will also be deployed to future models, said Hachigo.
Finally, the Jazz will feature the full Honda Sensing suite with active safety systems such as AEB, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist and a new short-distance collision mitigation braking system.
The hatchback was unveiled with five different trim levels namely Basic, Home, Ness, Crosstar and the range-topping Luxe.
