Putting forward better value for the new year.
Honda Australia has introduced updates to its Jazz and Odyssey, in time for the transition to the new model year. Model-year 2017 cars will see several small improvements, aimed at making these cars more compelling and competitive in their segment without altering prices too much.
Starting with the Jazz, the new model year brings with it the standard inclusion of 15-inch alloy wheels, without changing the $14,900 sticker price for the base model. No more steel wheels here. The mid-spec VTi-S and top-dog VTi-L remain unchanged, and the rage soldiers on with LED headlights, LED taillights, and a reversing camera. The Magic Seats also remain here, ensuring that the Jazz’s small dimensions continue to have people underestimating its carrying capacity.
On this, Honda Australia director Stephen Collins said that the updated Jazz “embodies Honda’s ‘man maximum, machine minimum’ philosophy,” and that the new alloy wheels adding the already impressive list of standard kit on the Jazz VTi “will ensure it remains one of the best equipped, best value cars on the market.”
As for the bigger Odyssey MPV, 2017 sees the introduction of darker trim on the front of the car (exclusively on the top-spec VTi-L), and privacy glass on the rear windows. The second-row captain’s chairs now feature ISOFIX child-seat tethering points, as well as split-pocket storage on the back of the front seats, aiding storage for second-row passengers.
The Odyssey’s colour options have seen a small change too, with ‘Carnelian Red Pearl’ replaced by ‘Premium Spice Purple’ metallic. Mr. Collins said that the Odyssey VTi-L “is the clear people mover of choice for private buyers in the under-$60,000 segment, commanding just under 50% of all sales in that sector.” He is confident that the changes to the Odyssey “are sure to lift its appeal with customers, and improve its competitive position in the market.”
The Honda Jazz lineup now goes as follows, with no changes in pricing:
- Jazz VTi Manual - $14,990
- Jazz VTi CVT Auto - $16,990
- Jazz VTi-S CVT Auto - $19,790
- Jazz VTi-L CVT Auto - $22,490
Meanwhile, the Honda Odyssey sees a nominal increase of $450 for the top-spec VTi-L model, which now sees prices as below:
- Odyssey VTi - $37,610
- Odyssey VTi-L - 46,490
